Qibao

Qibao (Chinese: 七宝; pinyin: Qībǎo) is a town in the Minhang District of Shanghai, China. Pronounced Qi'bao, translated as Seven Treasures.[1]

Its formation can be traced back to the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms Period, to the Northern Song Dynasty. The name comes from the local temple, "Qibao Temple," which is no longer in existence.

Now, Qibao town is a famous Shanghai tourist attraction. Tong River Po exchange across the town, the river a few blocks with different features of the bridge. Town Street is in the display style of the ancient town is also a bustling commercial street.

Qibao town known for cricket, its a local specialty. It is said that the Qibao production of the cricket's bravery and aggressiveness, are top grade.

Qibao is also once the residence of the famous painter Zhang Chongren, a friend of the Belgian cartoonist Hergé, on whom the character Chang Chong-Chen from "The Adventures of Tintin" was based.

Location

Located in western suburbs of Shanghai, which under the Minhang District, population about 14 million, covers an area of 21.3 square kilometers. It is bounded on the Huqingping Huacao Town, South sector Xinzhuang Gu Dai Road, East relies Meilong Town, Hongqiao Town, and Wang Jing Port. Qibao town can be access by Shanghai Metro Line 9 to Qibao Station.
